Data Collection & Processing

Data Collection & Processing

Data Source

We utilize reports submitted through our self-reporting platform, iwaspoisoned.com.

Quality Control Procedures

Raw submissions undergo a moderation and enrichment process using algorithms, AI screening, and human review to:

  • Detect and filter out inauthentic or malicious content.

  • Remove spam, duplicates, and other invalid reports.

  • Standardize and enrich key fields (e.g., location, symptoms, metadata) to ensure high data quality.

Calculating the Data

Qualified reports are then analyzed to identify those exhibiting norovirus-like symptoms (both vomiting and diarrhea). The surveillance metric is calculated as the proportion of norovirus-like reports relative to the total report volume.
