Data Collection & Processing
Data Source
We utilize reports submitted through our self-reporting platform, iwaspoisoned.com.
Quality Control Procedures
Raw submissions undergo a moderation and enrichment process using algorithms, AI screening, and human review to:
Detect and filter out inauthentic or malicious content.
Remove spam, duplicates, and other invalid reports.
Standardize and enrich key fields (e.g., location, symptoms, metadata) to ensure high data quality.
Calculating the Data
Qualified reports are then analyzed to identify those exhibiting norovirus-like symptoms (both vomiting and diarrhea). The surveillance metric is calculated as the proportion of norovirus-like reports relative to the total report volume.
